Rev. Carl Shanks

My Personal Story 

 I grew up in upper state New York, where I attended Catholic school up to the 7th grade.  I was an Alter Boy for 3 years, learning to serve Mass in Latin.  The impact of serving God, lasted for the rest of my life.  But something was always missing, I remember as a child always having flying dreams.  I would spread my arms and fly anywhere I wanted to.  As I studied this subject I realized how many different beliefs and religions there are.  As an adult I didn't attend any kind of church service, but started reading Tarot cards for friends.  I was amazed at the information I received, but my belief in Jesus never changed.  Then I became a Baptist and put the cards away, because I was told they were evil.  I left the Baptist Church to become a Cristian Spiritualist and felt like I was finally home.  As soon as I qualified, I started the ministry program and was ordained on August 13th, 2006 at Spirit Guided Friends Church.  At the time I was training I also joined a Native American Community.  I received so many blessings learning how to walk the Red Road, and how prayerful they are.  I went on a Vision Quest for 3 days and nights on Mt. Saint Helens and I can't describe what I learned out there in the wilderness all alone with God.  I can say it was a life changing experience for me.  All these experiences, and the paths I've crossed over the years have filled me with more Love for serving God.  I'll always put Jesus Christ first in my life, and attribute my gifts as blessings from him.  May he always find me worthy to share the Gospel and his Love with everyone I meet.
